The same patterns repeat - AI is the devil and ruining our minds, just as social media, the internet, and TV did beforehand. Always a bit true, always a bit false.

At the same time: no one is making TV shows like Sesame Street anymore, nobody is building Napster in their basement or launching Wikipedia, etc. Also true. But likeminded people are still there, doing something even more powerful now with more powerful tools.

The risks and opportunities go hand-in-hand. People are largely the same, so what we focus on and how we use the tools we have before us are what define our future outcomes.

There are people right now working on experimental projects that couldn't have existed without AI, just as Wikipedia couldn't have existed without the web. Who knows which ones will persist, but don't look at our past successes as unrepeatable (though they are) but as a blueprint for how to embrace the future with positively, despite negatives that come along with it.
