The promising thing with sodium ion batteries is the ingredients are cheap (~$20/kwh) and abundant so although they are still quite expensive currently there's a lot of scope for prices to drop and volumes to go up over time as manufacturing increases. You don't really get the good prices until they overdo production and have a bit of an excess.
