Maybe to them it’s not a race, and more a journey?
Or to put it differently, why the rush? It’s not like they’re trying to corner the “Linux on Apple Silicon” market, last I checked?
And to add to that "journey" story, they probably also understand that writing the code is only one part of it, and they probably want to remain in a position to maintain it
