Roughly 40% of the US GDP is rentier capitalism. It's much bigger than just land rent. Finance, utilities, mining. Healthcare with its artificial overheads. VC-backed tech companies with their loss leaders that transform into network effects and switching costs.

Billionaires do fund the land rent narrative though. Presumably because it takes the focus from their own economic parasitism.
