I'm using a bash script ("youtube-search") that makes use of yt-dlp, mpv, fzf, rofi/dmenu and gnu-grep. I forgot where I got it from, but it has been working fine for years and years now. As a "bonus" you don't get to see the awful thumbnails, though, this can also be a demerit at times.
