I learned maybe a year in software, should not match/happen are famous last words.

This is just negligent. Not a fan of rewrite in rust, but I find it highly unlikely this would happen in that community.

Rust tells you off if you don’t handle Results. Sure, you can still just unwrap() it and have it panic, but at least that’s a specific decision instead of forgetting to check for NULL like in this case.
