Why do you assume the others have same ethical compass as you? I hope everyone has the same compass but we have seen again and again trust being broken.

ISPs talk to each other, and people move jobs between them. It's not a uniform community but you certainly get a sense of the general spread of opinions after a while.

There are of course outliers but most people I know in the field care as much about personal rights & freedom as anyone else. Maybe even a small bit more.
