Show HN: Unclickbait – Replace clickbait YouTube thumbnails(unclickbait.app)

I liked the setting in HackerTube (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50319510) that replaces the YouTube thumbnail with a frame from the middle of the video so I had Opus 5.5 build a browser extension to do it for all YouTube videos. Enjoy!

How does this compare to DeArrow? https://dearrow.ajay.app/

DeArrow is great! The difference is that this extension automatically replaces thumbnails for all videos, whereas DeArrow is limited to ones submitted by the community.

It’s worse, since DeArrow benefits from its community to get actually relevant thumbnails.

I've actually never even heard of this kind of tool. I hate all of news crap that appears in my youtube feed. Sometimes I even fall for it and click. Installing this.

and DeArrow even does titles. OP should maybe have looked for existing things in the problem-space?

Top idea, the first look feels good, like a fresh sip of water for the eyes after way too much sugary cake. Now it's more about reading the titles. Let's see how this holds up.

Making YouTube work like How YouTube Should work, for the user rather than for promoting / supporting toxic, beguiling interactions.

Great job, will try it. I wish we could rename most of videos too. I hate that every once in a while algoritm pulls some "This will destroy your hope" "I promise you wont regret watching this" "only 1% will survive" type of name.

DeArrow does it.

There needs to be one to warn of AI slop videos.
