Just for my curiosity could you name a non-clown industry?

My guess is aviation or .. defense?

We don’t have billions to throw away on making sure our about-dialog is memory safe.

There is no upper limit on the definition of "clown." It all depends on how much money you have to play with and how many nines you're willing to accept.
