Because designers must design, programmers must program and managers must manage to ear a paycheck you have to change things even when they don't need changing. When you put this into a context of a greedy corporation that is completely self serving, i.e using the platform to serve their needs instead of those of the user it's inevitable that the product will turn into shit from the user perspective.
