Everyone should checkout Dark Reader extension, it's been doing adaptive dark mode for many years, and it's customisable. It even does light mode too. Using it in Firefox on HN right now!

I just noticed that Dark Reader stopped working for me. Turns out I accidentally installed "Dark Mode", a potentially malicious clone that got blocked :/

I like that on Chrome, and while it works on Safari, I prefer Noir there.

Chrome has a built in dark mode that's more performant than extensions.

chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark

Works great 99% of the every time.

just the average HN libertarian, nothing to be really shocked about... disappointing it is. i'm also sure that the dark reader contributor didn't choose all of this "political" stuff happening to them, but that's probably too complex thinking for @NooneAtAll5
