I logged in to postman today after 3 years to use some public API, and god, it was so damn unusable. It took me navigating through "workspace", "environments", etc etc before I could hit the simplest of http endpoints.

I switched to Bruno when payment started requiring login, love having the ability to just check it into git.

Ah thanks for name dropping Bruno. I actually never found the Postman alternative I was looking for. Using wget is fine. It would be nice to have an interface with collections again. Will check out Bruno this weekend…

I also use Bruno and it's great. One amazing benefit it saves in human readable formats.

You can give an AI agent a documentation page and it will create the collection of routes pretty quickly in files you can commit to git.

For me this is one of the biggest features/nice-to-haves! Just a folder with text files to define your environment that you can easily sync to other devices, backup, move to the next client...

Worth checking out Yaak too: https://yaak.app/

I can't remember why I settled on this over Bruno, but its much better than dealing with Postman.

You chose Yaak because it's from the original author of Insomnia, and Bruno is going the same paid route as Postman.

Exactly. Back in 2015 when I was still coding professionally Postman was our go-to tool for API testing.

Earlier this year I reached for Postman when kicking off a side project. I was appalled by how convoluted it has become. It really is a Frankenstein product. And they can’t seem to figure out what their offer really is.

No thanks. RIP to the OG Postman. The new Postman is dead to me.
